Is the FGSF scholarship directed towards STEM students only or are students in any major eligible?
Only STEM students are being considered at this time. However, future plans to expand this opportunity to non-STEM majors are being considered.
What are criteria for being accepted into the program?
Students whose parent(s) who have not graduated from a 4-year university regardless of other family members’ level of education.
Students who are transferring from a two-year community college to a four-year university entering as a college junior.
Students pursuing a bachelor's degree in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) discipline.
Students transferring from East Los Angeles College, Pasadena City College, or Los Angeles City College.
Can students from any community college apply and is the scholarship available for any 4-year university?
Currently only students from East Los Angeles College, Pasadena City College and Los Angeles City College and who are transferring to California State University, Los Angeles are eligible. However, FGSF envisions the answer to be YES in the future.
Who will select the awardees?
Awardees will be selected by the members of the FGSF Board of Directors.
Who will administer the scholarship and disburse money?
Money will be disbursed by the university's financial aid office and the FGSF office.
